The Labour party have lost touch. They are so used to behaving like dictator's they have forgotten to ask the public.

I think many of them have viewed Gordon as their trump card. They watched Tony upset just about everybody over the Iraq fiasco but have seen the solution as just putting Gordon in charge. I don't think they banked on people not taking to him.

By not facing a challenge for the leadership he has handed the opposition loads of ammo to repeatedly call for a general election. As the wheels continue to come off his miracle economy I think this will intensify over the coming year.

Also history has shown that long serving Chancellor's have made poor Prime Ministers.
 
It isn't going to matter, NuLabor could run the famous "Tub of lard" as Prime Minister and they are still likely to beat the Tories - we haven't forgotten Thatcher & Tebbit yet :p

I think that could change if inflation fails to dip and interest rates continue to rise.
