Thought this might be of interest:-

The engine sounds interesting for a diesel

"While the production engine requires a boost pressure of 1bar, the two engines installed in the JCB DIESELMAX require 5.2bar absolute at full power. The scale of this challenge can be appreciated in comparison with around 3 bar absolute for a diesel Le Mans racer, and around 4 bar for the turbo-era Formula One cars.

The results of the JCB DIESELMAX engine development work are truly impressive and the headline figures speak for themselves: with each delivering peak power of 750hp and torque of 1500Nm, the engines are over five times the power of the production version and at 150hp/litre, they exceed even motorsports applications as the world’s highest specific power diesel car engines."

cor interesting project for JCB, good luck to them, car if i can call it that, looks absolutely mental! slightly more aerodynamic than a normal jcb :D

It seems a bit underpowered to me? Thrust SSC had 110,000hp and this has a mere 750

Are they differing record attempts or something?

EDIT: "for a diesel vehicle" ;)

IIRC SSC was jet powered, whereas this is direct transmission to the wheels, so yes, different records, I doubt this will come close to 750 mph ;)

Christ thats a lot of boost

It is a lot of boost but remember they are cheating a bit in using absolute pressure as they are adding 1 bar for atmospheric pressure on top of boost pressure.

Two engines with 750hp each. They're aiming for 300mph. With the Audi R10 winning at Sebring, all I can say is- go diesel!
