Hi,

I'm wanting to buy a new laptop, haven't owned a personal laptop in over 10 years, and the last one I bought was a cheap lenovo. I'm use to working on a HP. I'm looking for a large screen (bigger than 14"), touchscreen, windows compatible as I will be using cricut design. Main uses will be cricut design, streaming and browsing, but I would like something that will last me and that runs smoothly with quick speed. Budget is max £700. If anyone could advise what specs to look for when buying so I'm not fobbed off by sales staff in store that would be great Thanks

Honestly? Go for a Mac. The new M series of macs are incredibly fast and will last you years and years.
Cricut Design works on a mac. You don't have to worry about viruses, malware etc. It just works. Anything you can do on a PC you can do on a mac.
There are some amazing deals around for last generation hardware; even an M-series mac that's four years old would be great. (I'm using an m1 right now; the current series of chips is m4)

Anyway. Go for a mac.

Else I would encourage you to go for an iPad. You can connect it to a keyboard and mouse and, yes, Cricut design runs on iPad too!

summarise; get any mac that begins with an M. do NOT get an intel no matter what sales staff tell you.
They do 15.3 inch MacBook airs that would suit you down to the ground.
Any M-series mac would be great for you.

Feel free to ping me any questions if you do want to go for anything Apple. For PCs I cannot help you I'm afraid.
