Hey dudes, in need of a bit of advice.

Starting university this september and im in the market for a new laptop. Budget anything up to and around £700, will be used for general work mainly, including photoshoping etc. There will likely be some light gaming too, ala Steam.

Does anybody know any models I should look into at this price point? Thanks in advance for any help.

yeah lookin at their site now, they look quite cool. Anyone have any experience with these laptops? Would a 14" screen be preferable for portablility??

I've got a 14.1" Dell laptop and its a little more smaller/lighter than a 15" unit.

The other benefit is screen resolution.

The resolution of the 14" model is 1280x768. The Nvidia Go 7600 will be able to handle that resolution with complete ease and give you a bit of flexability in the future when new games are released. Compare that to the 1680x1050 of the 15" model, which is a pretty high resolution for the 7600 to drive from the start in games.

Only problem with the above is that you'll have considerably less desktop space in Windows when doing uni work. With 1680x1050 you can easily have multiple windows open on the desktop. With 1280x768 its a bit of a squeeze and realistically you could only have one window open.

All depend on where your priorities are.

I'd personally get the 15" for the last reason.
