Hi All,

I am looking for a new laptop.
Budget - between £1000-£2000.

Needs to be light/thin and 15" and above screen.
Ideally more than 10GB Ram.

Going to be used for lots of things but not hard-core gaming
- New Sim City prob about the extent of it when traveling
- watching the odd movie on train/plane
- Photoshop/design work (hobby)
- General office.

Been looking at various models New XP15 but time to build and not being able to tick all the boxes on spec (ie SSD and HD) are putting me off.

Found this - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-115-MS&groupid=959&catid=1828&subcat=0

But wondering if it is a little too Gamer-centric...

Appreciate any recommendations or opinions on the MSI model/brand for laptops.

I've got the same laptop although with only 8GB RAM and the single 128gb SSD 1TB HDD, it's a great little machine and will plough through games like BF4 and COD:Ghosts no problem.
It's marketed as a gaming laptop but that shouldn't put you off it just means it's a very powerful piece of kit and will have no problem doing any of the things you've listed.
Along with being powerful the screen is great, the build quality seems spot on and it's nice thin and light.
The only problem I've found and this won't be an issue if you go with a 16gb model is that to replace or add more RAM, you have to strip the motherboard right out as in their infinite wisdom the RAM slots are on the underside of the board rather than on the side closest the case like in every other laptop I've ever opened up, that put a stop to my upgrading plans as I don't have the best luck when it comes to disconnecting and reconnecting ribbon cables and tiny pin connectors.

Hi, Thanks for comment.
Have you ordered spare power pack for it?
I have sent MSI an email or two but no reply.

Does it feel like a "brand" and/or premium product?
Little big of a snob in me looks at it as being a little like a custom build job...which isnt a bad thing given the spec I am after but dont want the case to start creaking etc

Nope I've not ordered a spare.
It feels like a premium piece of kit you'd be hard pressed to tell it's not a solid one piece aluminum base and I've noticed no creaks, flexing or anything from it.
It's about as far from a barebones chassis with bits just tagged in as I can imagine.

Thanks all....good suggestions...now more confused than ever....MSI is the cheapest....Dell looks the nicest and has options for extended warranty, docking station etc, Aorus seems to have the better graphics but slower HD than the MSI...
