New Laptop - Far too sensitive

Hi all,
Just bought a new laptop, Acer Aspire 5720. Its on Vista though and I'm really not getting on with it. It seems quite slow compared to my last laptop but my new laptop is a lot better (spec wise) than my last one.
I think the problem I'm having is that its far too sensitive. Everytime I write a message (on all programs) my cursor moves itself back to wherever its shown asthough I've clicked on it :S
For example my cursor right now is just hovered over the word 'all' and any minute now I will start typing there asthough I've clicked to type there.

Sorry for the rubbish explanation but can anyone tell me why its doing this?

Thanks, Emma.

Check in the mouse options there can be an option to disable the cursor while typing. Probably not on all laptops though.

Agh, my thread's been deleted from last summer, but basically somebody put me in contact with the website/company who designs touchpads for most laptops - and hence has drivers for them. Only after I downloaded said drivers was I able to turn off the touch pad and use my keyboard in peace.

Thanks guys, I have disabled "show cursor whilst typing" and its a lot better but I think theres a problem with my touchpad mouse too, its still seems to be sensitive, like say i have 2 screens up, it sometimes just automatically brings the screen thats not in use to the front. and i have a delay whilst typing, that shouldnt happen should it?

Sounds like the 'tap to click' setting is firing off sporadically. Try disabling the 'tap to left mouse click" and see if it is any better. Also try ever so slightly brushing the left mouse button and seeing if it has a hair trigger so to speak.
