Hi

At 30 and working in my chosen subject for 11+ years i am doing a part time Msc in GIS next month.

Looking at laptops as the one im currently using is old and does what's needed for the front room with the tablet for browsing etc....so thats out.

I have a budget of 300ish and would probably chuck in a ssd myself as its data etc and the quicker times would help loads.

I prefer Lenovo but that money above is not in that bracket. A 15in screen is a must.

Please help...struggling to think of what to go for...think i could get an i3?

cheers

HP Pavillions, Dell 15, Acers generally come in quite cheap, but the build can be flakey.

Check through online stores, basically set it to lowest first and scroll through, you'll find something eventually, but an i3 for that money is definitely do-able.

okay thanks...guess i just need something to get me through 3 years of use and not worry about the make to much, they should be okay for that. An i3 + 4gb ram and a ssd will do fine for the apps i will need.

thanks

If you have a look through the bay you can just about get an ex display i5 laptop for around the £300 mark. Links aren't allowed, but there is an Acer Aspire E1 for £312 with an i5 at the moment, won't last long.

RAM is always upgradeable, but for what it sounds like you need 4gb will be fine.
