New laptop for University

Any thoughts on the best/economical 15" laptop for use at University for my son? No gaming

I would have a look at the Dell Inspiron range personally for that price.

Mind you, Lenovo has some good offerings also in that price bracket.

I picked up an immaculate conditioned Dell Latitude 5330 a couple of months back, a 2022 laptop for £250,

i5 12th Gen laptop, 16gig ram , SSD, windows 11

Still has dell warranty until oct 2025 this year

it was an ebay job though and had to be careful to pick a good example, i was very lucky and the condition it was in is almost brand new looking, not a single mark on it

You could look second hand. I am using a 9yr old dell xps as my main laptop. It is still a really nice laptop for the kind of uses you describe. Progress in laptops has stalled somewhat, a high end laptop from a few years ago will still be really nice today.
