Got an HP 6720s lappy sat here which belongs to a neighbour.
He got it free when he signed up for Carphone Warehouse broadband.
Apparently, he first fired it up without the AC adapter being plugged in and it powered down during it's initial set up of the Vista install ( I believe it installs from a partition on the HD as it came with no Vista discs ).
It boots up but when it gets to almost the login screen, it says something about it being unexpectedly shut down and Windows cannot continue with the installation. Says to click to restart but it ends up going in a loop and back to the above error again.
The easy option would be to simply have CPW pick it up for replacement, but before doing so he asked me to have a quick look at it to see if I could do anything to avoid that hassle.
I'm tempted to stick a Vista recovery disc in there and see what happens but to be honest, I don't know what the outcome of that would be.
Any ideas?. Or just bite the bullet and send the whole laptop back?.
Thanks.
