Hi all,

Got my bro a Toshiba Satellite laptop for Xmas along with an SSD. Now theres no windows key on the laptop or in the documentation with it.

How do I go about installing Windows on the SSD and using the key thats already on it ?

Thanks

Its in the bios..
Make sure current OS shows as activated first.
Is it on win8.1. I bought the wife one, upgraded straight away to win 10
Does yours have a cover to access the hdd or do you have to remove the base?
Thinking about getting a ssd more mem for it

Use this
Macrium Reflect to create a boot cd/usb, from this you can take images and restore full images.
to copy old hdd to new ssd

There was a thread in the storage section on how to do it , but it appears to have been archived

As above if it's a laptop with Windows 8/10 on it, it won't come with a key it's coded into the bios. Install the ssd then install the operating system that was originally on the laptop.
