Hi folks,

I need to buy a laptop in the near future, with a budget of ~£400. It will be used primarily for word-processing and internet access, but would ideally be able to play at least reasonably recent games......

The two i have identifed are:

1. Fujitsu Siemens V5545 Laptop
Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 2.00GHz
2048MB Ram
250GB DVD-SM 15.4"
WXGA
Bluetooth
ATI Mobility Radeon HD2400
Camera
Windows Vista Premium

2. Lenovo ThinkPad R61e 7650
Core 2 Duo T8100 / 2.1 GHz - Centrino Duo
RAM 2 GB HDD 160 GB, 1
5.4" TFT - DVDRW - WLAN :
Bluetooth, - Vista Business

The passmarks are 1053 for the T7300, and 1324 for the T8100. However, i am wondering whether in the "real world" the graphics card will more than compensate for the slower proceser....

Is the difference in vista version likely to be important?

Is it correct that the Lenovo probably has the better keyboard, and the Fujitsu the better screen?

Any opinion VERY welcome!

Crawf

P.S - I know that neither are super sexy, but i want something tough and fast, not pretty!

P.P.S - Is the difference between Core 2 Duo, and Centrino, in this case just nomenclature?

Interesting.

Now wondering whether the Lenovo is marginally more attractive.

Indeed, in keeping with such concerns, i am now also in danger of being seduced by bundled mice and carry bags. I hate the thought i may succumb to such marketing ploys! Must resist.......

By way of further info, the sort of game i would want to play would be C&C Tiberium Wars and Pirates of the Burning Sea, nothing fancier/more demanding.

What are the chances that the X3100 would be sufficient for this? Googled all over, but not been able to find anything.
