Time has come for me to purchase a new laptop to work on. After going through a bunch of them over the past couple of years, I think I've finally found out what it is that I want, I'm just not sure where I can get it. The following are the main features I'm after:
I'm not really too fussed about OS/bundled software, RAM or hard drive as I'll be running Arch Linux on it, and have memory and a drive to go in it. I'm just in need of something that will last a good few years and cope with the things I intend on throwing at it (programming, Minecraft and other very light gaming (think Battle for Wesnoth), some light image-editing as well as the usual web-browsing, email-reading, video-watching etc.). A decent GPU would be a bonus, but not essential. Total budget for this is around the £600 mark. Any suggestions?
- 13.3-14" screen
- Good-sized, comfortable keyboard (will be typing a lot!)
- Solid and sturdy design
- Reasonably quick CPU
- Good battery life (4+ hours)
