Any top tips for someone who has bought a new laptop? What preinstalled software to get rid of and how, best antivirus, any settings that should be adjust straight away etc? Any tips and advice would be appreciated as delivery is tomorrow

I'd get rid of Norton but that's about it. I'd keep the Dragon Centre assuming you for the MSI? I'd install MSI Afterburner and have a play with that to get better core clocks in game.

Thanks for that I'm assuming avast is still decent? :)
Avast is good, just make sure you only install what you want when you install it (offers lots of unnecessary options). Run in hardened mode and that works well. Comodo firewall is good, but to be fair you would be better off not installing that and just going with Avast and Malware Bytes free.

Received my laptop this morning really excited. Bought a load of accessories new mouse, cooling pad etc.

Switched it on and none of the apps or start menu open up. Can't get into network settings to find out if I'm using wired connection. Edge doesn't open to try reinstalling windows. Nothing. So disappointed with Overclockers. Yes its Bgrade but surely for £870 it at least gets tested before shipping?!!!
Phone customer services to say nothing they can do, only refund or take back for testing. Devastated

Have you tried factory resetting it ? To be honest it may well be a blessing in disguise and just install a copy of Windows 10 fresh and pick whatever drivers you need from MSI? But try factory reset first.

Tried the reset and the MSI factory reset and with help from admin, it says there is a problem and no changes will be made and to try reboot later it's no longer even letting me get as far a login screen straight to the troubleshooting screen. We will see what happens tomorrow as tech admin ran out of time and had to go home which is fair enough.

Yes tried that. It seems to be in a loop of trying to repair, unable to repair and when I click continue to Windows in goes back into trying to repair etc

Download Win 10 and create installation media, details here - Link Install Win 10 (making sure you delete all old partitions for maximum space), download and install drivers from notebook vendor, profit! :)

Hopefully being sorted thanks to Bailey getting collected tomorrow for him to habe a look at. Thanks for advice folks.

Yeah all good just needed Windows reinstalled, everything working perfect now and laptop was in great condition :D For information the only thing missing was the foamy cover that goes over the screen. Thanks all.

I too have just got a new laptop and am thinking about protecting it the same way I do with tablets and phones. Anyone ever Vinyl wrap one?
Is it worth putting a screen protector on a laptop?

Plus does anyone know of a decent carry case? I don't wanna put mine in a rucksack. I'd like either a Aluminium or hard plastic flight case type thing.

Anyone ever purchase insurance?
