Hiya guys looking to purchase a new laptop it's specs are as follows:
Processor: Intel Core i5-2467M (1.6GHz, 3MB Cache)
Graphics card: Nvidia GT 540M
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
6 GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHZ (2 DIMMs)
500 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
11.6in Widescreen High Definition (1366X768) Truelife WLED

How would this runs games such as Battlefield taking into account it's a 11 inch screen :)

OR

Processor: Intel Core i7-2670QM (2.20 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.10 GHz)
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
8 GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz (2 DIMMs)
750 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)
8X DVD +/- RW DRIVE
Display : 15.6" Full HD B+RGLED True-Life (1920x1080) with 2.0 Mega Pixel Integrated Camera
Graphics : 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M Graphics card

Neither would do very wellthe first one I suspect would have better FPS but id get the second one due to th higher res screen.

Are you concerned only with gaming ability, or do you actually care about the physical size as well? The two laptops you list are vastly different in terms of size; do you want something highly portable, or are you looking for more of a desktop replacement?

This second one you mention will be fine for some light gaming on BF3 with graphics settings reduced. Also with it being a quad core it will help with games that are CPU heavy and the 1080p screen is much better than the other screen. Depends how much you are paying really and how much you will game on it. The 540M is an okay card but don't expect miracles with it, it will play most of the new games with reduced settings well and you probably won't even realise on that size screen what you are missing if the settings were higher. If you plan to connect it up to a larger screen like your Flat Screen TV I would probably look for a better graphics card in my laptop. BUT again depends how much that laptop is being offered for which you don't mention. Gaming laptops are very expensive and I grabbed one of the Series 7 Gamers for £1400 a couple of weeks ago and it plays everything including BF3 at Ultra with some settings turned down and I game on the Laptop screen and a 50" Plasma with it.

Out of the 2 you mention I would grab this one.

Processor: Intel Core i7-2670QM (2.20 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.10 GHz)
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
8 GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz (2 DIMMs)
750 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)
8X DVD +/- RW DRIVE
Display : 15.6" Full HD B+RGLED True-Life (1920x1080) with 2.0 Mega Pixel Integrated Camera
Graphics : 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M Graphics card

Just some reviews here of the Nvidia 540M

and the AMD 6970M (That I have in my laptop and the Laptop also has a Intel Core i7-2670QM with 8GB Ram (which im going to update to 16GB for work reasons but for gaming 8GB is the sweet spot).

Hope this gives you something to think about and that way you can make the right choice for you. Do try to make sure to get a 1080p screen in your laptop and a quad core CPU like the Intel Core i7-2670QM, it's a fantastic mobile CPU and i'm a serious power user. As you will see from the reviews above the 540M in BF3 means you will need to set it to Low-Medium settings to be playable and the 6970M High-Ultra (with some settings turned down) is playable. Have a good look at the review and the benchmarks for games at the bottom of each the GPUS are really the bottleneck in high end laptops these days with Sandy Bridge mobile CPUs.

Was tempted to go for a 6990m today with a 2820QM I7 8gb of ram 1.1k :D

Thats a serious laptop and really the sort of thing you should be looking at for gaming and wanting to game at 1080P with settings maxed or near max. High end laptops never come cheap sorry to say. You will be looking at £1200-£1500 really for a decent gaming laptop. £1.1K for a high end laptop is not a lot and the one you mention above sounds great value if it comes with good sized screen and storage to go with it.
