New LCD or Plasma... help needed...

Ok my dads TV broke - and Insurance have agreed to pay £1300 for a new Tv after failing to fix old one .. a Toshiba 32" massive grey box lump

The problem is we dont know much about LCD/Plasma ... read the comparisons... but still not sure... actually I see LCD is more the price range anyways...

The problem is he can only get it from the high street shop .. hmm can i say it ? Begins with C and ends in T .. oh er....

My problem is ...

MUST it have HDMI connection ?

I was looking at a
PANASONIC TX32LXD52
SONY KDLS32A12

or it seems the best value - complete with stand etc...

TOSHIBA 32WLT58

(all 32" lcd - or should he look @ plasma)
can anybody offer any advice on these as he wants to get one tomorrow...

All 3 are very good.

Your best bet is to have a good look at them playing a DVD, freeview/sky + any other sources you would connect.

thanks - I must admit the TV he has at present was pretty crap watching football via Sky box... I understand these LCDs wont be any better for normal Sky watching... but even HE should be able to see a good picture via the DVD player....

out of interest does anybody know what kinda price its gonna be when sky go Hi Def ???

bear in mind the new range of panasonics are coming out in a month or two.. probably worth waiting
