I picked up this little 70's shopper on eBay so I could make a lowrider bike. I picked it because the whitewalls, white fairings and patina come as standard from the factory:

I chopped out the centre section of the frame, lowered it, added about 14" and raked the forkes back and pulled the bars out to the max. I've got a cool little chop to ride to my local calls on now. Check it out, what do you think?

I finished it off at about 11pm last night and rode it about bare metal this morning. Gave it a lick of paint this afternoon in between calls. Only been out a day and someone tried to nick it this morning (rolleyes) in bare metal with rust and bare welds (rolleyes) but chained to a post :p

Quality. Mind if I ask what you paid for the original bike? This could be a good way for me to get some welding practice without messing up the shuv. It even has a handy pulse jet bracket on the back;).

Weeeeeeellllllll, don't tell anyone but the pulsejets are on their way. Two big U-shaped ones either side of the back wheel and a bottle of gas up front. I wanted one with a basket on the front to bung a gallon of petrol in :D

Paid £30 for the bike. Too much  but they get big money on eBay!

personally i would have gone with a slightly longer central section and sodd off great big forks :D but thats just me.

Looks pretty cool :) and with the jets....

Heheheh, I would too but I didn't have enough steel in the garage :D

Wait until Mk2 rolls out. I'm going to do a bobber next I reckon

Sry to say it stilll looks a bit girly to me, may be the girly blue ;) but as you used what was to hand at the time then not to bad i spose, was foolishly hoping for something like Ian Brown uses in the video for FEAR. lol Will almost certainly change my mind when the paint gets scorched by the heat from the jets.

Edit: Pedals needs shifting forward and a longer chain :p

Cool idea, a friend of mine did the same with a BMX and some extra long forks.

Only thing is, for a propper low rider you want to :

a) mount the bottom bracket about 12" further forward

b) Pull the bars backwards in the stem, so the rise is pointing backwards

b) have a back rest for your new riding position

et voila!

Yeah, mine is more of a beach cruiser than a lowrider bike. On a comedy undersize budget

It's not bad actually. It doesn't bend like I was expecting it might and I shamfered the ends of the pipes before I welded them to get a good deep weld.

Think of it this way, it doesn't go very fast and I don't have far to fall when I come off. And I nearly did this morning, the old turning circle isn't very good
