Hi, new to the mac scene really, just bought a new mac mini ect, anyone ever fitted a WD raptor drive in a mini or SSD drive?

what improvements? if any

Cant see a raptor fitting as the Mac Mini takes 2.5@ drives. Put a SSD in mine and it is absolute fast as mustard i love it

SSD is apparently an amazing choice (planning on one for my mbp soon)

Wouldnt try the raptor though, it is a 2.5 inch drive but the shrowding round it to make it 2.3 inch is needed to keep the thing cool! (used to have one in my old pc and it was amazing, but HOT)

SSD's are a really good choice, there are plenty of youtube vids showing how much of a boost they give to mini's and MBP's.

MBP:

They do cost a fair bit though.

SSD is great the raptor (even if you could make it fit) would no doubt create boith noise and heat (too much heat in the jamb-packed little box to be worthy of the change.

Yup, SSD is the way to go. In general use my 2Ghz Mini with an SSD feels much the same as my i7 MBP. Obviously it isn't, and you notice it under load, but it makes the mini feel like whole different machine.
