New Mac owner. Hints and Tips please.

I've just ordered my first mac - a 13.3" Macbook - Santa Rosa one

So just after usefull programs and hints and tips on use. Expesh with the new Leopard OS.

So you've read the post about essential apps?

Can't really give you app advice unless you tell us what you plan on using it for?

As for tips, if your coming from a Windows background it might take a while to learn the new UI, but it is usually quite intuitive. Can't think of anything else at the moment...

Buy 'Missing Manual - Leopard Edition' by David Pogue. Will have everything you could need to know about OS X.

I bought Andy Innatko's Mac OSX book with my first Mac. Was very useful.

Well i'm using it for websign, Linux based server administrator and generaly stuff.

apple + <space> then type "terminal"

Seriously though it'll feel odd but now I use it - I find it preferable to windows.

I would get used to the shortcuts. Few I use a lot:

Quicklook = <space> on a file, folder or application
Apple + space = spotlight

Aye, his writing style perks up what could have easily been a tedious book. I found it useful as a guide to exploring an OS that was new to me. I could have quite easily just poked around finding things on my own but I used it as a sort of "guide book" in a similar way you would use a guide to explore a new place. It gave me a more structured approach to getting the most out of OSX.
