Crucial do two types of memory now for the 8 core Mac Pro, which one is the right one? (one is with Xeon 5400)

Well, i cannot find it myself on the UK site, but yes it will be the Xeon5400 series ram... as the new Macpro uses Xeon5400 processors...
US site does list the Xeon5400 Macpro, but says they havent yet got any ram available for it.
Now showing on UK site, again no ram available, but at least the new Spec Macpro is shown. (must have had a cached page as ive been checking the page regularly for the last few days)

I don't want to pay Apple prices! I assume the "8 core mac pro" option won't be okay?

The new Mac Pro uses 800Mhz RAM. The old Mac Pro uses 667Mhz.
FB-DIMMS are a rare beast. Wait and see, or pay Apple through the nose now. Take your pick...
Stick the old slow RAM in and it'll be less stable than a spyware infested XP box.
