Well now the new macbooks have been announced for next week i need to start asking you guys a couple of questions.....

I will be using my little sister to get education discount and a 3yr warranty, how much is the discount for someone at a college (not uni)?

Will i be ok buying this online using her name and paying with my card? or Would i be best drving to my nearest apple store with her which is about 45 mins away? There is a reseller close to me, do resellers ofter edu discount?

How long do you think going on experience of new products will i likely have to wait for delivery?

I'm a pc user of 15 years, is it true once i go mac i'll never go back? :D

Thanks for any help on this boring topic :)

Welcome to the new world!
You can do it in any name, they really don't check tbh. You can just blag your way through uni discount as well.
Delivery shouldn't be too long, if you order a basic model that hasn't been customised then it shouldn't take long to get to you, a couple of days.

Either you know Steve Jobs or are psychic! ;) Nobody knows for sure what next week will bring, however, once you know it is easy to phone up and blag the education discount. I don't think you could do it in store. You don't need to use your sister just tell them you are at Uni.

Apple ship the computers from the Far East so it can take a while but not too long and you can track your order.

I certainly am in the camp of once you have had a Mac you don't go back but I don't game on computers.

I'm guessing the invite that apple have sent out with the words "spotlight is on Notebooks" might be a little clue ? :)

That was Steve's idea. He was just having a laugh.

They're going to be putting a shinier Apple logo on the iMac. That's all that this event is going to be for.

Are you sure that you receive a 3 years warranty with Further Education discount?

It might be different compared to the Higher Education discount, just wondering :p

Doesn't mean a new MacBook though does it? Could be anything laptop related.

Good ol' Steve having a bit of a laugh, eh? :D

I think its a conscious decision you make based on your requirements.

I transferred to Mac after 25yrs of PC/pre PC systems. I still use PC because I have software/hardware which simply isn't Mac compatible. Indeed, I may still buy soft/hardware that isn't Mac compatible. But that's because I don't want to have my choices constrained despite being a Mac user.

Well I bought a MBP 2 years ago. Just selling my PC now, I would have sold it sooner but needed it for 3D work and video editing. Cant wait to finally be rid of a dedicated windows machine!
