well work ordered me a new laptop and i requested a macbook

must admit, its lovely, been playing through it and working through 'tiger for dummies' as im a long term windows user - so hunting down all the tricks and tips

the widgets thing is great, everything seems more coherent and logical, oh and just checked the system settings and it says I have core 2 duo! - i was expecting old core duo as it was ordered a day before they were announced - seem i have been lucky

keyboards not bad either, screen is great, airport worked flawlessly with my home network

so pleased just felt I had to post something - oh yeah its a white one too :)

I'm ordering mine tomorrow night when I'm back on the uni network for the HE discount :D

Lucky man. Mine is due to get to me by the 6th of December. Cant wait, just in the nick of time as my laptop is playing up.

Im waiting for Leopard to come out before I get one.

I dont want to order one now, and then when leopard comes out have to reinstall the os (I dont know how to do that :( )

Really do fancy getting one though.

I have a mac mini and theyre great.

Congrats to the OP, well done.

I've just ordered mine today :D

I settled for the black MacBook with Core2Duo. Another high street department store wanted the same price for one of the older model Core Duo models :P

It should hopefully be here on Thursday :)

It's unbelievably simple to upgrade the OS. Just pop the disc in and it'll do most of it for you. When I went from Panther to Tiger I didn't lose a single piece of data, application or setting. It was a bit magic.

Yea its well easy to upgrade/new install, i work with macs, but im gonna wait till leopard untill i get one for home lol

Well im getting to grips with the OS after a couple of days and everything seems a lot simpler and more elegant than windows. The machine itself is beautifully built, feels very solid and images look great on the glossy display. Keyboard is also good, I can type very fast on it but am still getting to grips with the extra fn key on the bottom left, and the no delete key (which I use fn+backdelete).

This thing is quick too, very responsive, opens images up in a flash, and connecting usb sticks is a breeze, just plug in, little disc appears with an eject by the side - very user friendly.

Still stuttering a little on word and excel, just a little different interfaces and managed to open a lot of toolbars etc lol, also the F9 to show open windows is very handy too.

all in all magic, my next dillema is to get a case and a sleeve - I want something backpacky but stylishly cool - not that Im asking a lot :P

another option is to use ibackup to same all your files, mail & libraries. do a clean install and then restore your files.
