New Macbooks?

It's subtle upgrades to refresh them so people won't forget about them, and to extend their life span until we see brand new ones hopefully later this year :)

They've got a speed bump, boosting the standard clock rate, the hard drive space and stock RAM.

For more information then I'd check out Apple's site.

It's like with cars, they give them slight facelifts and performance changes to refresh the line, then every 3 - 5 years they change the design completely.

When are we likely to see the brand new macbooks? would it be before the end of this summer? i am looking into buying a macbook, and i will probably buy sometime between now and mid summer?

Would it be worth the wait if i wait untill summer?

Please God, that's just going to spawn a 1000 threads about "Should I buy, or wait until WWDC"

If you need it now, buy it.

You can always sell the thing on for a nice price come June and get the revamped model if you want, but at least you'd have gotten 4 months of use out of it.

QFAT and I wished I'd listened to this very good advice 4 months ago with regards to buying a MBP.

Fair enough... I don't need it now, but would love the extra 4 months use out of it, however money is an issue, and will not be able to afford the extra cash for the revamped model and would like to get the best deal (even if it would only be an extra £100-200). Now that i know there will be another update in june i will not buy it now, i am just curious on what else will be changed and since most here are experienced mac buyers, i assumed you would have some idea of what could be changed... maybe i'm wrong. :D

Thanks

I wish to God people would keep things in perspective. The upgrades aren't that amazing, ok they are good upgrades obviously but I don't think they warrant selling your current model and getting the new one. That's what Apple want to do and make more money.

The way I look at it is..

Buy MacBook Pro for £1500 (or thereabouts, this is an example) in March.
Sell MacBook Pro on eBay in June for £1000-1100
That leaves you with a loss of £500 in the worst case scenario.

All you've have to do is save £500 in the next 4 months, and come June you could whack in £80 worth of RAM (4GB) and probably cut your losses even more :)

That's just what I'd do in that circumstance, and have done in the past.

In fact, when buying with discount HE, FE etc it's possible to breakeven if you get a good sale out of it.
