not much benefit going for higher spec ram.

For overclocking on Sandybridge, you raise the multiplier on TurboBoost and has no effect on the memory. You can do other tweaks to raise the BCLK and memory frequency, but most of the OC is done on the CPU multiplier. Low Latency could be a bit better I suppose. I specced that ram because of low profile (space for large coolers), availability, and it's recommended for every spec without complains or issues. And of course, it's cheap.

If you want a good overclocker and / or SLI-XFire option, go for a slightly higher spec motherboard (GD53, P8P67 Pro, UD4), lower voltage, lower latency ram, but in any case you could overclock to well over 4GHz easily even with the spec above.

Best bang for buck imo if the 2500K, GD53, and Corsair XMS. With that, you'll be good past 4.8GHz with a decent cooler. And I should think even the cheapest SB board will be good up to 4.6GHz.

It's your money really, you can get some beasty motherboard and higher spec RAM if you have the budget, it depends what you need it for. Overclocking enthusiast, gaming rig, or general-purpose.

if your not getting a K processor, why not get a H67 board which is cheaper?

WAIT! before you buy the 2500 processor, the 2500K UNLOCKED processor is cheaper!!!

You do understand that the non-K version do not overclock.

Call OcUK asap and reorder, there is no point getting a non-K and a P67. Similarly, no point getting a 2500K and a H67 (maybe better integrated graphics but that's moot).
