Hi All,

Is it possible to upgrade a shuttle Xpc which is curently installed with an FN41 mainboard and XP 2000. Looking to upgrade to a micro atx? mb running a c2d cpu. Is this possible or am I stuck with replacing with another newer shuttle box?

I think Shuttle do sell replacement motherboards but from what I recall they are a) pretty expensive, b) the PSU might well need upgraded as well and c) I don't know if all the pin layouts are the same.

//edit however the folks in the SFF sub-forum will know better than me. :)

it really would be easyer and not much more cost wise to just buy another shuttle. you also have the resail value of your existing system if you dont want to keep it as a spare.

its not just the mobo that needs replacing. your psu as already stated may need swopping out (although it should work)

your heat pipe system may no longer be compatable so you may need to replace that.

front pannel connectors are more than likely incompatable also.

depending on the spec, condition and providing its working, your sn41g2 has a resail value between £80-200. thats a nice little helper towards a new system.

It's cheaper and easier to go for a new machine :).

If you want another Shuttle then go for it, if you want MATX then you'll need to aim for different SFF system (e.g. Silverstone case and standard MATX motherboard).
