Just got my mackbook pro today, and ive just powered up the system. However, I noticed some problems with the mousepad. Whenever i try to "tap" the pad to click on something, it does not respond to my "taps". I can only click on something if I use the button below the mousepad. Are macs really like this or there's something wrong with mine? (im a newbie to mac)

Open System Preferences and check the mouse/trackpad settings.

I believe that the two-finger double-click is off by default, but I'm not sure about the single click tap

Once you start using the trackpad on the MBP with the 2 fingered right click, the 3 fingered swipe, every other trackpad in the world will make you want to throw the laptop out the window.

:)

Been there for years, the second-finger scrolling is the best feature IMO.

do you not find that the 2 finger right click conflicts a bit with the 2 finger scroll? also when i do the 2 finger right click i find it a bit awkward to then select the options in the right click menu that pops up. maybe i'm just not used to it yet.

With the single finger tap enabled, I just use a two finger tap on the trackpad to right click.

Once you've done the 2-finger click you can take your hand off the trackpad

Were you clicking AND trying to stretch your fingers to select the items in the contextual menus?
