Hi all.
After reading this forum for a while, i decided to finally post in order to get some advice from the many guru's here regarding my new system. Here are the specs:
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium ATX S939
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Processor S939 San Diego 2.2GHZ 1MB L2 Cache 90NM
EVGA 7900 GT CO 256mb (not overclocked)
2x 512 pc 3200 Kingston dual channel
PSU Raidmax RX 580.
1) What is the best spoftware to test the temp on the cpu, graphics card, motherboard and case. I use a thermaltake Xaser 3 with a digital sensor for the cpu, but it shows 39-42 c under desktop conditions. My P4 intel 3.2 ran colder. I also have 7 thermaltake fans which came with the case.
2) What are the best drivers for my video card? I am currently using the xtreme 84.37 v2 but i don't see how i can overclock it.
3) I heard that these evga 7900 GT cards were having a lot of problems with overclocking so i just wanted to test mine to make sure its not a RMA.

Thanks for all the help and sorry for the long post.

firstly welcome to the forums... once you start posting seriously... you'll never leave :p

1. personally, i got by BIOS temp readings on bootup... then check nVidia's nTune.

2. i'm using the 84.25 drivers for my 7800GT... although personally the 78.88's are very good/stable, they were my favs for a fair while... :)
you wont be able to overclock your card until you download a program like coolbits
just googled this and found this screenie

coolbits.jpg

as soon as you've installed coolbits, you will get this little extra menu :)

can't help on 3 i'm affraid

Thanks Nikebee

But i only see that my core clock frequency can go up until 1.00 mhz and the memory clock frequency only up to 900mhz. Is this because of the drivers i am using? I am using the xtreme 84.37 v2.
I was told this card can go way higher?
Are you using Nvidia drivers or 3rd party?
Thanks

Welcome to the forums.

I would try getting the latest official drivers rather than using modded ones then installing coolbits, for temps speedfan is pretty good.

/claims (read general discussion a bit and you'll understand :p)
