Welcome, for a start you've posted in the wrong section :p I'm sure a mod will move it for you to the general hardware.

Whats your budget and whats the purpose of the machine? do you need a monitor, peripherals, windows?

Welcome dude :)
Depends what you are doing with your setup, if you are gaming then your money should be more shifted into your GPU.
Let us know what it is you do with your rig, and we can advise you from there :)

Thanks guys for the fast response, so sorry wrong section lol noob,,
the build is basically for playing games, my budget is around 700, I have a monitor
and win 8 on a ssd drive ready to go, it's just the set up really.. :)

OOps should have added web browsing etc.. :)

Slightly under budget this time seeing as you have a case and PSU, put a better cooler in for you that'll fit your case, leaves you £50 to play around with + the £20 cashback

or you could swap the 970 out for this

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/gain...ddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-192-gw.html

It'll put you slightly over budget again but you sell the game voucher for £15/£20 to help with the difference

I will second this, and with the spare money you have, put it into either an all in one watercooler, or 16gb of Ram, as personally, 8 is not enough for me, as i somehow have like 40 tabs on chrome, and then a game, and my poor 8gb isnt happy...

Now that looks good pal thanks,

Personally I wouldn't go AIO, that cooler is good enough really, and the only time I've ever pushed 8gb of RAM is in Just Cause 3 the past few days.

The i7 4790k is a very good CPU but then you will end up having to buy a worse GPU. An i5 is plenty for most games the hyper-threading from the i7 will help in games like battlefield but the i5 isn't gonna stop you in anything. :)

Snookums, if i stay with this build what gaming card should do it ?

Your best bet would be a 970 or 980 if you want to push your budget, but I am Nvidia biased, so an equivalent would be a 380/390.

If you are gonna push for a 980/390 go 390, it has full DX12 support and is a tiny bit better than the 980. as well as more VRAM
