Hey as the title says ,

I've bought some new memory and for one reason or another my system seems to freeze up now . It happens on start up (the windows logo freezes) and when I can boot up it happens on the desktop ( the graphics go all shakey?) . A couple of times there's been lines going across my screen when it crashes too , not sure if that means anything .

So to be more specific , my system is a new build , I have :

Overclocked 4670K @ 4.5GHz
Gigabyte Z87-HD3
Corsair H100i
Corsair CX600 PSU

And the RAM thats the new edition is 16GB of Corsair 1600 XMS3

4 x 4GB

I've ran the windows diag test and all came back clear ?
any ideas ?

:(

Thanks

UPDATE :

So I've taken 8GB Ram out to run some more tests (Mem test) and it seems to be running better now . Could this be a case of voltages ? I have most if not all things under RAM on my BIOS set to Auto , is this where I'm going wrong ?

Ok tried that , the boot hung on the bios (Gigabyte screen) then crashed on the windows logo screen , 3 times ...

2 sticks seems stable but put four in and it doesen't seem to like it ?

I finally managed to get it to boot with all 4 sticks in ,
tried to attempt memtest with all in ,
and I get the error :

Could not allocate 4095MB ... ?

All 16GB seems to be present ,

My apologies Stulid , I'm a little slow on this stuff , I was using a portable version
of memtest , not memtest86 .

I've downloaded 86 and burned to a CD now , It seems to have found a good few errors !?! 11 so far .

Will the get fixed ? I have to say I'm not massively disappointed as I only paid £50 for all this RAM , none the less , I'm a little p****d off ....

P.S Thank you Stulid for the help and patience , really appreciate it

OK , so I went to go remove the RAM from the system and christ was it hot , still holdable but still pretty damn hot . Could this be a simple setting or voltage ? I'm testing all this at work but this is my pride and joy so taking it home to investigate further. The original owner is kind enough to try and look for his invoice reciept so if it all comes down to it I can return it to Corsair ... ?

Yeah the voltages were all spot on and everything else in the BIOS for that matter . I've just got home now , using memtest on each module to find the faulty one . Pretty bummed out :(

Lesson learnt the hard way , don't buy used , untested RAM :( :( :(

Right this gets stranger and stranger . Tested each individual module and Ta Dah.... all passed ...?

now I'm really confused ....

Any ideas anyone ?

Hmmm..... OK !

So thanks to all of your help I put all my RAM modules back in ,
Booted to BIOS ,

Found my "DRAM VOLTAGE" for channel 1 and 2 , (Which was on 1.5v Auto),
!!!My RAM states on it that it needs to be 1.65v
AND BANG ! (not literally)
I booted up windows with no faults or crashes (Yet) , but I'm pretty sure you guys just fixed it for me !

Thank you all so much !
You know that sinking feeling when you've put in so much work and money into something and its going the wrong way ! Surely we've all been there !

Thanks again Guys , Will keep you updated :)
