Hi all

Got a faulty ram stick and PC will not power up without Memok.

I put bios to default upgraded bios still no joy.

Tried both sticks on there own one works the other does not.

Can someone recommend me some good ram please 8GB or 16GB something for gaming maybe cheap but really good or dear and good.

Budget £80 maybe slightly more if worth it.

Motherboard is Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0

Thanks in advance.

OK just tested.

From right to left the first slot both sticks work the 3rd slot only one stick and the last left no sticks work and no matter which one my pc only starts with Memok.

Any help is it the motherboard.

Also I switched off my pc last night when this problem happened to use my SSD drive for windows os so done a fresh install.

And with both sticks in bios startup says 8GB which is what I have.

Yes before I overclocked it and the cpu at the same time now both are at default.

Edit
It was Dopc or something the OC option.

its hard to say whether its the board or the memory

for dual channel you should install into slots 2 and 4(atleast its like that for intel)

and it should boot up from either of those slots with just one stick installed

you say it boots from any or all of the slots with using memok button? if so it could be the memory itself

Yes with memok it boots not without it though.

Ordered some new ram should be here on Friday.

Also getting red screen now while playing games sound more like ram?

OK tried new ram with no joy also another MB no joy still.

When the problem happened I notice the pc would not come and there was a main electricity switch down a short cut I think.

Personally I think it is the power button on my case that is not working even though it lights on when using memok.

The ram is a Corsair Vengeance 8GB Stuie.

Will replace the case switch and report back.

Any other things you think it is please do let me know.

swap over the case power and reset wires on the motherboard, then power on/off the pc with the reset switch

if it works you know the power switch is faulty

Hi got it working tried what you said Wazza the wires were not connected a bit stupid of me really.

Also the ram you mentioned before I'm still using it has it seems a lot quicker than the Corsair so some good came out of this.

Thanks to everyone that took time out to help.
