Im in the process of making a new pc and im stumped as to what memory to get. At the moment im heading towards 2gb Geil PC6400 C4, but there are so many and I dont know which is good or bad, so can some people suggest descent memory to get, I have only ever had corsair and crucial.

Im want a kit of 2x 1gb sticks so I can add another 2gbs in the future, price wise upto £200. My motherboard is going to be EVGA 680i. Thanks.

Upto £200 the Geil is the best by far. But it's probably worth spending the extra tenner to get the Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB).

I think there's more chance of getting over 1000Mhz with the Corsair with tighter timings. The Geil seems to be a bit hit-or-miss when it comes to great overclockability.

Saying that, mine is running perfectly happy at 900Mhz at 4-4-4-12.

When the Geil was really cheap (under £130) it was by far the best option. But now that it's in the same price range as the Corsair it's no longer the stand-out option.
