Hi all - just bought some faster memory.

Curently running XMP.

Before putting in new do you need to change current memory settings to default (even though the new ones are faster) before installing?

Well, that’s a very open question ended question with a lot of variables.

If the RAM is working, probably not.

I tend to run a slight voltage bump in the DRAM and SOC voltage but that’s for overlocking and timing tightening.

If you’re unsure what to change and it’s stable, leave it a lone.

Update the BIOS is all I’d suggest.

XMP profiles are usually specific to the memory that you have installed and they're read from the memory itself, so if you're replacing the memory, I'd suggest turning off XMP (i.e. putting everything back to stock). That said, if the PC fails to boot because of an incompatible/unstable profile then 99% of the time it will just reset automatically anyway.

Thank you both.
Ah ok I misunderstood your question.

You won’t be able to run XMP settings for your new RAM because the new RAM will be detected and need to train.

You’ll need to manually enable XMP when you install the new ram.

It might take a few mins to do so.

Update your bios anyway
