New mid class build

I have been wanting to build a decent i7 with 460 nvidia card, but im going to have to lower my price by quite a lot.
Can anyone spec me up an i5 computer, something that is just as good (probably much better) than my E6300 8800GT desktop.
Ill be using my existing monitor 1680x1050
Need:

Case
HDD
PSU
Motherboard
RAM
Processor
Cooler
GPU
Win7 (OEM)

Ill be making my own up sometime tonight but would like some helpful hints and something to compaire my choises with.

Looking for quite a bit cheaper. Around £500. Ill put something together and people can rip it apart

EDIT : Something like this. Im stuck on the motherboard. Could do with being cheaper, but thats as good as i could make it.
Could maybe go with an i3 but this is a games machine, so that might be a bit of a bottle neck?

AMD is a bit cheaper, plus if you do go i5 you want the 760 chip not 6 series, if you want to save a bit more you can go for an athlon chip comparison of Athlon vs Phenom and i5 vs Phenom

This build uses 768mb gfx card, which should do fine comparison, has a faster HDD, the PSU may be small but its adequate and is good make

Ill be sticking to intel. Can you recomend a mother board for my build? I get a bit stuck on them. Just a bog standard one. Not into overclocking much.

Only i3 and over budget but its the best i could do. i suppose you could same some money with a cheaper case or motherboard but thats up to you.

dont buy a Palit GTX460 they are to loud.

What are the chances of price drops in the new year? I hear of new socket i series. The only problem with waiting is stuff might go out of stock when the new i's come out.

Don't think the price would drop...most likely they just go EOL and replace with new socket. One thing for sure though is the VAT will be higher next year...as if buying stuffs in Britian wasn't rip-off enough already :mad:
