Morning.

Been given the green light to get my kid a PC for Christmas (only 5yrs old, but want to get him using mouse and keyboard, paint etc).
So, mini itx is the preferred route, but struggling for motherboards. Only 3 B450's out there at the moment

Any thoughts on my best bet?

Thanks

latest of the b450 ITX out and features the best VRMS but goes quickly out of stock

very nice looking board but not worth the high asking price

push 450w Kolink unit- they had a good write up but gives yourself more room for expansion in the feature using 450w

another case worth considering

allows 2.5 slot GPUs to be used in future and better cooling for CPU

Thanks folks, sorry for not getting back.
I remembered why I chose that case, it can take standard PSU and I have a spare 650w at home (bit overkill, but it'll do the job)
Just need motherboard, but may see if there's deals on black friday.

That's an interesting option indeed. Althought I guess graphics would let it down, so that's my only thinking for 2200g instead. Otherwise I'll be getting into graphics cards as well.

used one of these motherboards in a 2200g system over the weekend, and it seems pretty good. :)

I did a build using a B350 and it was a pain getting the bios updated to handle the 2200g. AMD were very good, but had to wait for the boot kit, flash it, send it back etc. Now the B450's are out I'd probably stick with those.

The one I built with over the weekend already had a much more recent bios, and a sicker on the box saying ryzen 2000 series compatible :) So worked perfectly right out of the box.

I understand your anxiety though, I did have a 1st gen ryzen and gpu on standby just in case I needed to update the bios :P

aorus was the last/latest ITX to roll out, pretty much based off the z390 version and well put together, really makes their old one look so cheap for the same price...
as above other B350 boards should be good , asrock didnt make any changes from B350 to B450 so get what ever is cheapest , if B350 - by now should have had bios for 2200/2400g cpus installed, if not - have to get AMD boot kit

I had a Sugo SG13b for my work PC, it is a great case, but recently switched it to a Milo08;

It is a much better ITX case, the CPU temps dropped a full 10c, same cooler, hardware etc. and the footprint on my desk is halved, quieter too.

You are limited on CPU cooler though with I think a 58mm height limit, though Silverstone make a nice down blower.

just an alternative case option.
