New MMOrpg rig

You only need high bandwidth memory if you plan on overclocking.

/me checks the name of the website... :p

The OP was looking to buy a machine
but want to play warhammer when its released and keep the main bulk of the system for 3 years or so

To get optimum value he'll need to overclock and therefore get decent memory. Ne c'est pas, as we say in Dublin?

I did say I would like to over clock a little, as all do to get few extra cylcles per pound.
so i will go for the pc 6400 800mhz as I had already budgeted for this 4gig £150 2x2gb ocz branded.

The psu i know feel is a very key part of the build from the comments above.

I can now make a saving on the motherboard as the SLI where comming in at £130+ dependednt on brand

Your thoughts are great but have put my head in a spin,

another thing is the mounting of the psu at the base of the antec 900 case going to pose any issues with the motherboard, are all psu cables suitable length for this case.

Thanks Again

With the Gigabyte board , and ocz pc6400 ram , how far could i push the Q6600 realisticly with the £32 cooler. is 3.2 ghz commanly achiveable

I have changed thoughts on Graphics card again, as I only run 1680 x 1050 i am going to go for the 320mb version of the 8800gts, save a few pounds

3.2GHz OC is a realistic overclock although remember nothings a gurantee.

At 1680x1050 i srongly advise you get the 8800 GTS 640MB instead of the 320MB, any lower res and it would be fine, you've certainly got the budget for the GTS 640MB, although if your only playing games such as LOTR it should be sufficent although if you have any plans on playing new upcoming games i would give it some thought.

I'd take the IP35 Pro board myself over the Gigabyte but it's all preference at the end of the day.

PSU - Undoubtably the Corsaid 520w or 620w Modular power supplies are the best choice.

Apparently the OCZ 4GB kits aren't that great this time round. I'd go with the gskill ones.

My personal preference for main components would be:

Abit IP-35,
Q6600 C2D,
2x2GB Gskill 6400 RAM,
ATi 2900XT 512mb gfx,
500GB WD 16MB AAKS,
Corsair 620W (520 is good if going over budget),
Lian Li PC7,
Noctua NH-U12 CPU Cooler (performs better and quieter then the tuniq tower in all reviews of the two I've read).

Thats bang on in my eyes, go with this man :)

320MB will be fine for that res.

And i said it would be fine, i was just saying why settle for a 320MB GTS when he can easily afford a 640MB GTS, if he plans on playing any new upcoming games at that res then the 640MB GTS is the much better option.
