New MOBO and CPU queries

Hello guys

I am thinking of getting the Asus MAXIMUS VII RANGER MOBO. A 1150 socket board with Z97 chipset. My question is that can I slap any CPU into it, I know the socket has to match but it is the Z97 chipset that I am cautious about.
Any light on what things HAVE to match when buying the CPU and MOBO would be appreciated.

The board can take any socket 1150 cpus on the market.

Sweet, the £190 CPU looks more appealing, so any CPU with 1150 works?

Yep, any socket 1150 cpu, the 4690k is the best mid ranged to buy

Why the hell is the 4690K that expensive on here? It should be no more than £165.
