New mobo and cpu

I have 200-250 max to get a motherboard and cpu that is better than what i have atm which is :

Put the cpu cooler in their incase you dont have one. You could overclock that setup easily.

Would this be a lot better getting a Opteron 146 and a Epox 9NPA + SLI skt.939 motherboard ?

If you have a 3000+ at 2.5ghz then i would'nt even bother upgrading at the moment. There is no point in upgrading from 754 to 939 as you will be going from one dead end to another. 939 will not get any further cpu releases and will be phased out from Q4 06 with 754 following Q4 07. I would wait and see what Conroe is really like on release or wait for the 65nm cores to appear on AM2.
