My current system is this

Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
Opty 165
2GB DDR500 OCZ PLatinum Edition
Arctic Freezer Pro
8800GTS 384MB
150GB Raptor
plus a soundcard and 3 hdds

Basically I am looking to replace the Mobo, CPU and Ram, and after chatting to a friend i was up for buying
Q9450
Asus Maximus Formula
4GB OCZ 1000Mhz Ram

But I'm now having doubts as to wether there is much point in spending that much money on the CPU and Mobo when a Q6600 and P35 mobo would do fine and save me plenty cash in the process.????

I'm struggling to justify the original spec now. Any comments????

i'd be interested to know what the difference in performace is between processors with differering amounts of L2 cash. why not just get an e2200 and overclock it?

I have a P5K-E/Wifi (basically the same as the Premium, couple of minor changes, but cheaper) and I highly recommend it :)

Neocon - in benchmarks there can be quite a major difference, but I doubt there's a big difference in normal use. A E6750 will overclock a lot further than a E2200 though, I know that for sure :)
