My current system is this

Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
Opty 165
2GB DDR500 OCZ PLatinum Edition
Arctic Freezer Pro
8800GTS 384MB
150GB Raptor
plus a soundcard and 3 hdds

Basically I am looking to replace the Mobo, CPU and Ram, and after chatting to a friend i was up for buying
Q9450
Asus Maximus Formula
4GB OCZ 1000Mhz Ram

But I'm now having doubts as to wether there is much point in spending that much money on the CPU and Mobo when a Q6600 and P35 mobo would do fine and save me plenty cash in the process.????

I'm struggling to justify the original spec now. Any comments????

Unless you want to run xfire/sli,a P35 board will run the Q9450 and 4gig ram quite happily.
A case of personal choice on the cpu, while the Q6600 will do 3.6 quite happily on noisy air,45nm chip run much cooler and would give you the same clock for less cooling.
