Hi Guys,

My current system is as follows

M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 (AMD3)
AMD 955 CPU
2x4GB Corsair Vengance RAM
Corsair 620HX PSU (modular)
MSI GTX670 Twin Frozr
Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD
Creative XFI titanium
CPU cooler is Artic Freezer Pro I think.
Rat 7

I bought the current Mobo in a hurry as my brother's PC died and he couldnt afford to replace it. So I gave him my Q6600. Very generous I know as the AMD 955 was good value and performs OK for the money, but its not an Intel and I have had enough of AMD now (and ATI GFX).

For some reason after my PC is on for a while (a few days) I start to get crackle on the speakers when sound is played (only when played not permenantly). A restart removes this issue for a while but it does come back.

I planned on moving to Ivybridge but was unimpressed by the development from Sandybridge. Some might say that the progress from Ivy to Haswell is a bit limited too. But I think the time is coming to dump the Mobo, CPU and maybe the RAM.
I bought a new Anidees case from OC to put this all in, so I have the room.

My PC is permenantly on, it houses 3 other large drives for storage and I have a Gigabit lan running to my HTPC downstairs. So it acts as a Server most of the time.
Everynow and then I like to play some games online with Friends. BF3 being my most regular game. L4D2 being another.
I would like my new system to be capable of being "cranked up" when about to enter gaming mode.
Whilst I have bought products before that are capable of being over clocked, I very rarely bother.
I would like to be in a situation whereby 99% of the time my PC can sit very quietly ticking over in the lowest energy using mode.
But when I wish to play a game I can select a profile in the BIOS or even better via Windows (running Win 7 64bit) that cranks up the CPU.
So I am very open to a new Mobo suggestion with either an i5-4670K (most likely) or an i7-4770K if someone can justify me buying that CPU for my needs? I heard that HT with i7's does not help gaming?
I have always bought ASUS Mobo's for the last 10-12 years, but I am open to Gigabyte as well - Z87 type.
RAM I am open too as well. though I think my current RAM will work with new Z87 mobos.
I would like to throw in an all in one water cooled CPU cooler too as my case will allow it now. So something good, and quiet.

Suggestions for Mobo, CPU, Ram and Cooler combos please?

Thanks

PS has that USB chipset bug flushed through yet? Or will i have to wait a little longer?

Hi - budget is healthy. That doesn't mean I will buy the most expensive thing there is, but I am not shopping at the lower end of the market. Middle to Upper, but not at the Top.

The boards are very similar in terms of perf and features. The OC has extra features designed for Overclocking and Benchmarking.
