Can people cast their eyes over the following:

Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - OEM £251.99
(£209.99) £251.99
(£209.99)

Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (BLS2CP8G3D1609DS1S00CEU) £129.95
(£108.29) £129.95
(£108.29)

Gigabyte Z77-DS3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £79.99
(£66.66) £79.99
(£66.66)

I already have a 128GB ssd and 2tb data drives so just need to upgrade mobio/cpu/ram from my old Q6600 setup which is getting irrityatingly slow exporting/importing images.

Any comments on the suggested hardware above would be great.

LR and ps aren't fussy, the more CPU and memory you throw at them the faster they are but they aren't sensitive to memory timings and micro tweaks from the mobo. You tend to get a smother experience with more ram and both products are properly multithreaded so the more cores, virtual or otherwise, the better.

lightroom is quite disk intensive. if you can get at least your cat and working files onto the SSD and "archive" to the larger disks then great. otherwise LR loves CPU but not so much memory, whereas PS loves to chomp through memory.

GPU is a decent Nvidia card that will drive 3 monitors (main desk, 2nd desk and 52" plasma on HDMI for viewings).

OK, probably go ahead and press the buy button !
