Hi guys, I'm a bit of a computer building nooby, built a couple of systems but have bought a few upgrades for my two year old PC for xmas! Basically I purchased the giugabyte G1 Sniper along with a new ssd that is compatible with sata 3. I would like to transfer my operating system to my new SSD when I install the new MOBO, so I bought Acronis True Image and made a copy of my current SSD on my new SSD. My question is two fold:

Firstly, the backup file on my new ssd is a (.tib) file that is 26gb. How do I actually sortof, unpack this file and install it all on the new hard drive? Should I do that process before installing the new mobo or after?

Secondly, when this acronis true image file is unpacked on my new hard drive, can I simply swap the two hard drives round in the boot list? Will it load up into windows without problems or do I need to change anything?

Any help or advice would be amazing and you'd really be helping out a new guy!! Cheers!

I think you will run into troubles doing this. It would work out OK if you were using the same hardware but now windows has all the drivers installed for your old board. Trying to get that to boot on your new board could well cause more troubles then it is worth.

That is if I understand you right.
