new mobo, old drivers

When installing a new mobo what are the chances of my Win Xp drive loading up
without doing a reformat?

Is there a way to do this by just reinstalling windows or selecting ' repair '& then adding the new mobo driver?

you could try booting into safe mode prior to uninstalling the old mobo and remove all drivers on the system.

but its generally recommended to do a fresh install.

you mean just reinstall windows so I get to keep all my programmes
but no need for a format?

If you get any issues you can do a windows repair that will keep all your installed programs and will fix any incompatible hardware issues. See this link for information http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
