Basically all i know is that i should really go for the X38 series. Ive always gone with Abit, but with the IX38 Quad it sounds like they got bios problems.
So i thats left me with Asus, MSI, Gigabyte and Foxconn.
The only one ive heard of is Asus, and i like the look of there Asus Maximus Extreme Intel X38. The only problem i can see is that it has a waterblock, and i dont use watercooling so do i have to have it on there?
Is it actually a good motherboard or is there better elsewhere, ive got no budget when it comes to an important part like this.

They've all got BIOS problems, it's an immature chipset & afaik the Foxconn & MSI aren't yet in retail (edit: my mistake I see that OcUK now have them).
The question is why should you really go for X38, are you planning on running Crossfire?

I need a new motherboard so i can put my new e6850 in as my current mobo doesnt support it without a bios update. Im scared to do it as im not sure how even with the instructions im scared to do it just in case i mess up.

So what mobo should i get then if the x38 aint any good?

x38 has two PCI-E x16 slots so you can running a crossfire set up with two ATi cards both a full PCI-E x16 speed... If you are looking to just use one graphics card then look at the P35 chipsets
