New MOBO processor and graphics card

Hi
have ordered a new MOBO, graphics card, memory, and processor.
currently running windows XP, but will upgrade to 7 when released.
after some advice re reinstallation when I have fitted all of the above.

I know I will have to reinstall windows, question is can I then use an acronis disk image to restore all my other programs or will I have to reinstall all the apps then just use the backup to restore the data files ?

would it make any difference if I add a new hard drive with just windows on it as the boot drive and then just connect all my old HD's ?

don't have a problem with finding a quick or easy way, just want to know what is the best most stable way of doing this.

tbh how many programs do you have?

i would just make a list of them all and reinstall the bugger

but using norton ghost could copy an image of ur whole drive but would be useless unless u are building the exact same pc
