new mobo, same chipset, different company. need reformat?

My old Abit NF7 has died on me.

So I ordered the only available new socket a with sata left on the market (although I didn't exactly look too hard), an ASRock K7NF2. This also has an Nforce2.

Ideally a reformat is what I would do, but I'd rather put it off till next month (or march even )

Or should i back up everything right now, bung in the new motherboard and just format from the off?

give it a go without the reformat. I did it successfully with the same chipset

With the same chipset, you should be alright with the same install.
