I am building my first pc and dont want to go sli but would like a quality board with good onboard sound .oh and it would need to be AMD compliant

If you're looking the overclock, DFI is the undisputed king. 100% rock solid board.

None at all, the DFI Ultra-D is identical apart from the SLI support.

If you're interested in overclocking then the DFI wins hands down, if you want to save a few quid then go for any NF4 based board

Agreed. But even if you're not overclocking, the DFI is still one of the very best boards for AMD 939s.

im vering towards the Asus A8N-E because it looks fairly easy to setup and stuff but is there anything about it I should be aware of?

I will have a closer look at the DFI also but the Asus is top of list at the moment
