I am building my first pc and dont want to go sli but would like a quality board with good onboard sound .oh and it would need to be AMD compliant

if I go for an Sli board even though i dont use the sli will that give me a better choice of board ,if so can anyone reccomend a board that doesnt give a lot of problems:)

Agreed. But even if you're not overclocking, the DFI is still one of the very best boards for AMD 939s.
 
im vering towards the Asus A8N-E because it looks fairly easy to setup and stuff but is there anything about it I should be aware of?

I will have a closer look at the DFI also but the Asus is top of list at the moment
