New Modem

Hello all,

I want to buy a new modem as the one I got from my provider (about 3 years ago - Telewest Blueyonder) looks really bad against my black components

If I bought a new one I take it, it should work with no problems? (i.e it does not have to come from telewest). Im using a telewest NIC card which I presume stores all my internet details on.

No, you can't buy your own cable modem and connect it to Telewest's network... stick with what you have.

Errr... no they're not.

The cable modem's MAC address has to be authorised by Telewest, buying one (if you can actually get hold of one legally, apart from stolen ones on ebay) and plugging it in won't work.

You can buy them in the US, but it still wouldn't work.

Only suggestion's upgrade to 10Mbps - the older modems can't handle it and you might get a new one.
