Hey guys, im getting a new Monitor for my setup, hopefully over the weekend, but im stuck between some of the choices here.
one of my options was going to be:

or

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-084-LG&groupid=17&catid=949&subcat=

Im looking at £140-£170 for price including p&p. Could add an extra tenner or two on it but this is really my ideall price.
Any ideas on what would give me the most out of my money????? or BANG for my BUCK as they say. :)

hmm, will it not be a bit big, for a desktop monitor i mean. i say this as my desk is not that big and that going from a 19in to 24in might be a bit much, what do you think??

Also, is it worth getting an LED yet?

Believe me, you will get used to the extra size :). Plus, the extra area with the same resolution as the 22in monitors you mention above means that text is easier to read.

As for LED backlighting - it really isn't worth it unless it is coupled with a quality LCD panel. The panel in the P2450H is better than any LED backlit panel at this price range. For more info on LED backlighting, I would give this a read.

Thanks cmndr_andi, yknow what, I think I will get the monitor you showed me. Definitely better than what I've got now, and thanks for the link on the backlighting. Much appreciated.

:D

thanks again PCM2

if thats the case tho then surely i cant use optical sound from my pc to the monitor to carry sound out thru headphones plugged into the monitor ?

for that i'd need optical in on a monitor wouldnt i ?

That's correct. Both of the audio out ports are intended to output sound carried to the monitor via HDMI.

balls , ideally i wanted optical in so i could use that and the dvi for the pc then the hdmi's for my consoles

are there any good monitors on the market with optical in and audio out ?

Are you trying to route sound from the PC and the console through the monitor to a seperate sound system without having to reconnect anything switching between console or PC sound? If so what kind of sound system are you using?

no im not using a seperate sound system

ok this is what i want to do,first off i want to plug my gaming head phones into the monitor

then i want picture and sound from my pc,so probably using dvi&optical , plug xbox into one hdmi, plug ps3 into other hdmi

now because my headphones are plugged directly into the monitor i dont need 3 pairs or have to unplugged them when ever i change the source of the sound, IE console or pc

Ah, that sounds like you need a monitor with 3 HDMI inputs or more realistically a 1080p 32in HDTV.

Alternatively the BX2450 monitor and a 2 port HDMI switch.
