New monitor advice

I'm looking at getting a new monitor for my PC. I currently use a 27 inch 60Hz monitor. I mainly use my PC for CS:GO but play RTS & Racing games as well I'm looking to get a 144Hz monitor and my current GPU is a GTX 1080, is it worth shelling out the extra money for a g sync monitor or is there not that much difference? I've also seen a b grade 4k G Sync monitor I like the look of but I'm not sure how well CS will be play at such a High Res.
