New monitor advice

Hi, so i've just built a new pc and realised that my monitor can't use it to its maximum potential..

Current monitor is a Samsung S32D850T so i'm used to a 32" size, ideally I want to keep it this big.

I think I want to go 4k as I assume my GPU can handle it?

I have never seen what a higher Hz monitor is like, I guess it makes quite a difference for games?

Budget is £500 but could stretch to £1000 if its really necessary.

Thanks, I'm just starting to learn about monitors and i'm wondering if its better to go for OLED? I understand that there is a risk of screen burn though.

I'm looking at the AW3423DWF as an option but I'm aware that there are maybe some new monitors coming soon..

I can't decide if going for 4k is really worth it, I think that any new monitor is going to be an upgrade for me at this point.

Yeah running a 1440p 60hz monitor with that setup is a serious waste.

Honestly OLED VS Mini LED is down to personal preference. OLED has slightly better blacks and Mini LED has better HDR and no risk of burn in. Personally I find the HDR more noticable than the blacks but each to their own. If you have other OLEDs in the home you might prefer that.

You need to try a monitor with a higher refresh rate to determine if you think it's worth it.
What sort of games do you play the most?

Anything over 120hz you will notice
A big difference
Not just in games even desktop/browsers etc
Feel better
I would never go back to 60hz monitor

Dell warranty does cover oled burn in
Dell are also due to drop 2 new monitors
Though can't for the life of me find the article I read about it

I recently got a mini led monitor (£500 coolermaster can never remember model number lol)
I can't actually see any great improvement over
My old ad27qd monitor
Though that was a pretty good monitor
So maybe I was expecting too much
As for true HDR personally i think windows sucks with HDR
My experience has been very hit and miss with it

If at all possible
Go somewhere you can see the monitors in person

Yeah thats my worry, I've spent a lot to get to this point and hate to think I'm not utilizing it.

I guess I should find a shop that has some to look at, I don't have any OLEDs at home - even my tv is 10+ years old now..

You could check out B grade in ocuk
Bought my ad27qd B grade
Saved a lot of money
And it was immaculate still had plastic on it
Though you do only get 90 days warranty I think
Though the manufacturers warranty should still apply

Though mines still working perfectly as second monitor
So never had to try
Even though B grade is discounted
You can still make offers on them

If may bother you or it may not, just subjective unfortunately. If its purely for games and media use then OLD all the way. Vastly superior contrast, you actually get black and true HDR due to the contrast. Yeah mini-led screens can get brighter but this is negated by the much worse contrast imo and unless your gaming in the Sahara then OLED is plenty bright enough

Thats interesting, I do actually use the pc for work which is mainly spreadsheets/emails. I did think I could keep my current screen to the side if an OLED is that bad for text.

Well at the moments theres only really the Dell AW3423DW and AW3423DWF if you want Ultrawide and the LG and Asus screens if you want 16:9 that I would be looking at right now but thats becuase I consider the larger screens such as the 42" LG C2 too big for a desk monitor. Though Dell and Asus are bringing out 32" 4k screens next year which might be worth waiting for. Depends now badly you want a new monitor now

I’ve got a feeling I’ll go for the AW3423DW or DWF.
I would like to get the monitor asap and who knows what price the 4k screens will be.

Is it true that the DW is best suited to the 4090 over the DWF?
